O Canada! Our home and native land!. Or in this case, perhaps it should be our home and native band? Regardless, I am thrilled to present two of Canada's most well known and accomplished music executives.
Jake Gold is best known as the original manager of the Tragically Hip, the act he built into arguably Canada's biggest rock band of all time. He launched his management company in the 1980s and went on to manage other leading acts including Sass Jordan, The Pursuit of Happiness and Adam Cohen (Leonard's son). Jake was a founding member of MMF-Canada and has been awarded Manager of the Year three times by the Canadian Music Industry. As an original judge for the first 6 seasons on the massive national TV show Canadian Idol.
Josie Dye is one of Canada's best known and beloved TV & radio personalities. She is currently the morning host on Toronto's Indie88, which is Canada's leading indie rock station. Prior to joining Indie88, Josie was a personality on 102.1 The Edge in the same market, and worked in television at Corus Entertainment for both W and CMT Canada. And she recently launched a very popular podcast to boot.
These two share a friendship that spans many years and they both have plenty to say about their careers as well as the current music industry. I promise you will leave this smarter and a lot more inspired than you arrived. Check it out next Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm ET/11:00 am PT.
