WHO KNEW The Smartest People In The Room - Doug E. Fresh and Peggy Dold

Unless you have been living on a distant planet, you may know that this year the music industry is celebrating 50 years of hip hop. I have been quietly planning how we can put our own spin on that and I am beyond thrilled to announce this one, featuring one of the OG's of the genre and a true legend in music innovation.

Doug E. Fresh is an American rapper, record producer, and is also known as the "Human Beat Box". The pioneer of 20th-century American beatboxing, he is able to accurately imitate drum machines and various special effects using only his mouth and a mic. In the early 1980s he formed the Get Fresh Crew with DJs Chill Will and Barry B and later added rapper Slick Rick. Two of their songs “The Show” and “La Di Da Di” are considered early hip hop classics. "La Di Da Di", in particular, is one of the most sampled songs in music history. And just wait until you hear about what Doug does off stage to help provide health care related education and services to under-served people.

Peggy Dold returns to our platform to host this conversation in her unique and totally professional style. She is one of the most well-connected and deeply knowledgeable global music executives I know. Peggy runs her own music industry consultancy, which is a business development and strategic marketing company that specializes in strategy, planning, M&A, team-building, management, and implementation for many leading global music companies.

These two share a friendship that spans 30+ years and they both have plenty of wisdom and amazing stories to share about their careers as well as the current music industry. I promise you will leave this smarter and a lot more inspired than you arrived. Check it out next Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm ET/11:00 am PT.
