In honor and recognition of Black Business Month, this month’s Empower Hour will feature BACP Chief Small Business Officer Lotika Pai chatting with Dedra Simmons, Owner of Pookie Crack Cakes. During the pandemic, Dedra Simmons reimagined her product and developed small size bundt cakes that now sell out each day. Pookie Crack Cakes, located in Bronzeville, uses the original family recipe to create cakes like the signature butter pecan praline. The rotation of flavors each day allow customers to try a bit of everything on the menu. With her corporate pharmaceutical job behind her, Dedra focuses on making addicting cakes that are beloved in the neighborhood and citywide.
The candid conversation will cover the launch of the business, product development, supply chain management, and community engagement. The webinar will end with a Q&A for attendees to ask questions.
