If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what is the value of the stories behind some of those pictures? In this episode of the Smartest People In The Room, we feature two guys who have photographed some of music and sports most iconic moments of the past 40 years.
Michael Zagaris‘ legendary career as a photo-journalist includes many highlights. How about hanging out and photographing the Rolling Stones, The Who, or Led Zeppelin for starters? Or how about being the official team photographer for the San Francisco 49’ers and capturing iconic moments such as “The Catch” from Joe Montana to Dwight Clarke. That’s just the tip of the iceberg of this man’s work.
Jay Blakesberg has been one of the primary documentarians of the Grateful Dead experience for the last 45 years. He is a San Francisco-based music photographer who has captured many iconic images and has photographed many legendary artists including Carlos Santana, Tom Petty and The Rolling Stones to name a few. He has published 16 coffee table books of his music photography.
Just think about the stories these guys can tell from green rooms, to locker rooms to tour buses, to who knows what else. Pop some popcorn, sit back and prepare to be very entertained and inspired.
