Our three presenters will walk you through a crash course on creating authentic flavors in plant-based meat and dairy. They will discuss how consumers are looking for the same properties in their dairy counterparts – – in terms of mouth, feel and taste. They will also teach you how to embrace the plant-based category without getting bogged down with development.

Krista Ruhnke, Western Regional Manager, Dempsey Corporation
Krista Ruhnke is a Certified Food Scientist with 35 years in the food industry; holding various positions in R&D, Technical Service and Sales. Krista is a solid flexitarian and is excited that the plant-based movement is finally making it into the main stream. With access to a wide range of ingredients, Krista merges her passion for a flexitarian diet with her food science knowledge to develop ways to make plant based more approachable. She is excited to share her findings and discuss with anyone who wants to learn!
Katie Towers, Technical Product Manager, Dempsey Corporation
Katie Towers has been in the food industry for 7+ years. She has spent most of that time with savory applications and five years working specifically with DSM yeast extracts as Dempsey’s Product Manager. With a business strategy mindset and a food science background, Katie has dedicated a great deal of time to understanding and perfecting how to make plant based applications taste like authentic meat.
