Michael Horn is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Learning Sciences at Northwestern University where he directs the Tangible Interaction Design and Learning (TIDAL) Lab. Michael serves as the Program Coordinator for the Learning Sciences PhD Program at Northwestern and is co-Founder of the new Joint PhD Program in Computer Science and Learning Sciences. Melanie West: Melanie is currently a Ph.D. student at Northwestern University and is on the TunePad Leadership team. She spent 10 years in the music business as a recording engineer in New York City where she worked with recording artists such as Madonna & Sade. She earned an Ampex Golden Reel and a Platinum album for her work with the Talking Heads. Melanie spent 10 years as the chief engineer of an experimental multimedia studio at Bell Laboratories. And Izaiah Wallace who is a computer science PhD candidate at Northwestern University working at the intersection of AI, creativity and computation. He is interested in designing music programming interactions such that it is a sustainable medium for artistic expression, helping students to learn coding through music and vice versa.
