(Webinar) Cinematography and Lighting

This class will be held online via Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30PM starting on May 26 through June 23.

Cinematography is known as the art of motion-picture photography. It is a science in which the use of controllable elements such as movement, visual composition and the nature of lighting are factored in. In this online course, students will gain insight on equipment, setups, and best practices. Instructor Josh Romero will demonstrate techniques and host a Q&A with weekly special guest from the film industry. Guests will include professional cinematographers and filmmakers with years of experience and insight into current practices.

Week 1: Wes Tabayoyong – Director of Photography – The Chicago portion of the upcoming Rolling Stones documentary
Week 2: Seth Oberle – Gaffer – Owner of the rental company, Light ModifIers
Week 3: Erdem Etral – Steadicam Operator – EMPIRE and WATCHMEN
Week 4: Jason Kraynek – Director of Photography – HEAVEN IS HELL, FANG (feature films)
Week 5: Steve Ordower – Documentary Producer – LEAPS OF FAITH (his latest doc film) @LeapsofFaiths

Once you register for the class, you will receive an email each week with a link to access the online classroom via Zoom. All class materials are included and will be emailed to registered students.

Technical requirements: Students can access the course via a computer or smartphone. While access to a webcam or phone camera is preferable, only audio and the ability to view video are required. Students will need to install the Zoom app on their computer or smartphone, but no account is required.
