We are all selling; that is, we are continually trying to influence and persuade others through our communications and actions. Selling yourself is an essential and positive part of any creative business. 

Truth is, selling is becoming increasingly necessary and a real competitive advantage in a world of creative entrepreneurship and striking out on your own because chances are you will not have a sales team pitching and promoting your work for you.

Possibly you feel like the practice of selling is too foreign or brings up images of a sleazy car dealer. But selling doesn’t require you to be someone who you’re not. In fact, it commands the opposite that you be true to yourself and your passions.

As creatives, it is easy for us to think that doing quality work will be enough to get new business. Not quite, we need to open the door to the world so that our ideas and creations are known, because if we make something and nobody’s there to see, why did we create in the first place?
